This Week in High School Sports: 8/30/19

The first edition of 2019-20 leads off with a feature on former St. Johns quarterback-now-coach Andy Schmitt, hands out Game Balls to Adrian soccer's Mitchell Hanosh and the Northville girls golf team, brings back "Be the Referee" with a segment on the football 40-second clock and concludes with a commentary on the benefits of a multi-sport experience and how more should take part in this opportunity.
The 5-minute program, powered by MI Student Aid, leads off each week with feature stories from around the state from the MHSAA’s Second Half or network affiliates. "Be The Referee," a 60-second look at the fine art of officiating, comes in the middle of the show and is followed by a closing MHSAA "Perspective."

This week's edition highlights the wealth of information contained within the MHSAA's record books, awards Game Balls to standouts in volleyball and football; explains the replay rule in volleyball, and tells the Title IX story of graduated Detroit Renaissance track champion Kaila Jackson.
The 5-minute program each week includes feature stories from MHSAA.com or network affiliates, along with "Be the Referee," a 60-second look at the fine art of officiating.
