This Week In High School Sports: 10/11/19

This week’s show features Negaunee cross country star Emily Paupore, awards Game Balls to Martin football's Cayden Curry and Marquette's girls tennis team, explains changes to golf rules for the 2019-20 girls and boys seasons and discusses the MHSAA's growing efforts in improving student-athlete mental health.

The 5-minute program, powered by MI Student Aid, leads off each week with feature stories from around the state from the MHSAA’s Second Half or network affiliates. "Be The Referee," a 60-second look at the fine art of officiating, comes in the middle of the show and is followed by a closing MHSAA "Perspective."

This week's edition explains a rule change allowing Michigan schools to play opponents from anywhere in the United States, presents Game Balls to high achievers in soccer, cross country and football; discusses some of the similarities between high school and college or professional football rules, and highlights recent record book updates for football.
