1. Girls Golf: Northville shot a 304 to edge Plymouth and win the opening invitational at Hudson Mills in Dexter – those teams finished fourth and fifth, respectively, at last season’s Lower Peninsula Division 1 Final – Observer & Eccentric

2. Girls Golf: Kalamazoo Hackett was first, St. Joseph second and Coldwater third at the Richland Gull Lake Invitational at Bedford Valley; Hackett was fifth in LP Division 4 last season, while St. Joseph was eighth in LPD2 and Coldwater was 14th – Coldwater Daily Reporter

3. Boys Tennis: Traverse City Central opened by winning its Summer Splash ahead of Holland West Ottawa, Traverse City West and Grandville; Central tied for 14th and Grandville tied for 19th at last season’s LPD1 Finals – Traverse City Record-Eagle

4. Boys Tennis: After falling to host Zeeland East, Grand Haven stormed back with wins over Grand Rapids Northview and Grand Rapids Catholic Central; Grand Haven was an LPD1 Finals qualifier last fall Grand Haven Tribune

3. GIRLS BASKETBALL McBain Northern Michigan Christian handed Brethren its first defeat of the season, 35-30 – MI Sports Now

4. GIRLS BASKETBALL Maddux Overweg broke a school 3-pointers record from 1992 in Springport’s 58-32 win over Battle Creek Pennfield – Jackson Citizen Patriot

5. SKIING The Onekama boys and Grand Rapids Christian girls won Bryan Groenevelt Memorial Invitational titles at Crystal Mountain – Benzie Record Patriot

6. BOYS BASKETBALL Okemos earned one of its best wins this season, 48-41 over Lansing Waverly – Lansing State Journal

7. BOYS BASKETBALL Battle Creek Central earned its first win over Harper Creek in five years, 55-43 – Battle Creek Enquirer

8. GIRLS BASKETBALL Defense reigned as Detroit Cody edged Denby 39-36 – Detroit News

9. GIRLS BASKETBALL Alcona edged Alpena 49-48 in double overtime – WBKB

10. GIRLS BASKETBALL Carleton Airport came back to defeat New Boston Huron 53-45 – Monroe News
