A pair of high-caliber basketball games topped Monday’s statewide action, but we also looked back at a couple performances we missed over the weekend in bowling and gymnastics.
Each weekday during the school year, we’ll gather and post media links covering the most significant and intriguing high school events from all over the state.
Girls Basketball
Undefeated Houghton needed double overtime to hand Marquette its second loss this season, 46-40 – Houghton Daily Mining Gazette
Boys Basketball
Clarkston remained undefeated despite a strong test from Wayne Memorial, holding on for a 73-68 win – Detroit News
Girls Bowling
From Sunday, Jackson’s girls (ranked No. 2 in Division 2) won their fourth tournament of this season, downing Sturgis in the final at the Trojan Invitational – Jackson Citizen Patriot
Boys Bowling
Also Sunday, the Division 2 No. 4 Sturgis boys won their side of their home invitational, besting 13 teams – Sturgis Journal
Gymnastics
From Saturday, Farmington and Canton continued their back-and-forth this season with Farmington winning the Canton Invitational, frequently considered the strongest regular-season meet in the state – Observer & Eccentric

1. CROSS COUNTRY Marquette swept championships at its Dale Phillips Invitational; both Marquette teams are ranked No. 1 in Upper Peninsula Division 1 – Upper Michigan Source
2. GIRLS GOLF Traverse City West shot a 368 to edge Central by two strokes and win the Petoskey Invitational – Cadillac News
3. BOYS TENNIS LPD2 No. 8 Traverse City Central split singles and swept doubles to defeat Maple City Glen Lake – Traverse City Record-Eagle
4. GIRLS GOLF Ludington shot a 186 to win the second West Michigan Conference jamboree – Ludington Daily News
5. BOYS SOCCER Big Rapids defeated Reed City 2-0 – Big Rapids Pioneer
6. BOYS SOCCER Clinton and Onsted were winners from the Adrian area – Adrian Daily Telegram
