The last “quiet” night of this winter season still saw a couple of key girls basketball matchups, impacting both peninsulas, as the rest of schools not yet in session prepare to resume next week. 

Each weekday during the school year, we’ll gather and post media links covering the most significant and intriguing high school events from all over the state.

Norway scored the go-ahead points with 56 seconds to play to get past Ishpeming 44-42 in a matchup of undefeated teams – Marquette Mining Journal 

Southfield Arts & Technology broke away during the second quarter to hand Clarkston its first loss, 64-48 – Oakland Press

1. GIRLS SOCCER Trenton won a rematch of a 2023 District Final, 3-0 over Riverview – Southgate News-Herald

2. TRACK & FIELD The Reed City boys and Hart girls won the Hart & Sole Music Invitational championships Big Rapids Pioneer | Athletic.net

3. TRACK & FIELD The Gaylord girls won the Third Annual Yooper Invitational, while Charlevoix and Alpena shared the boys championship – Escanaba Daily Press | Athletic.net

4. SOFTBALL Fowlerville and Howell split, the Highlanders’ Ava Lavery throwing a no-hitter in the second game – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

5. GIRLS SOCCER Traverse City West added a second shutout to open this season, 3-0 over Elk Rapids – Traverse City Record-Eagle

6. GIRLS SOCCER New Baltimore Anchor Bay netted the game’s lone goal with 23:02 to play against Utica Ford – Macomb Daily

7. GIRLS SOCCER Jackson Lumen Christi scored a pair of late goals to get past Manchester Jackson Citizen Patriot

8. GIRLS SOCCER Leland also finished its first week with a shutout, 2-0 over Manistee – MI Sports Now

9. GIRLS SOCCER Hart opened 1-0 for the first time since 2017 with a win over Benzie Central – Ludington Daily News

10. BASEBALL Haslett swept an early-season doubleheader against Jackson Northwest – Jackson Citizen Patriot
