Student Broadcasters Make Their Calls at Comerica

Sports broadcasting students from Montrose, Davison and Lowell high schools attended Thursday’s Detroit Tigers/Oakland A’s game at Comerica Park – and got a chance to practice calling the game.
The students recorded themselves doing the play-by-play and color commentary. Meanwhile, Bally Sports Detroit reporter Johnny Kane interviewed Montrose’s Danny Sackrider and Owen Leitelt during the game and gave the duo a chance to show off their best home run call.
Sackrider and Leitelt recently were named the Best Sports Announcing Team in the high school division by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. Their home runs calls are part of the interview below:

► Jacob Bartlett converts the 2-point try in overtime giving Standish-Sterling a 30-29 win over Clare.
► Livonia Clarenceville stops Redford Union's game-tying 2-point attempt and wins 48-46 in overtime.
► Alex Stoyanovich boots South Lyon past South Lyon East in overtime, 30-27.
► Waterford Mott's Kalieb Osborne throws two touchdown passes and scores seven more on the ground in a 77-63 win over Saginaw Heritage.
► Dawson Cary scores the game's only touchdown in a 6-0 overtime win for East Jordan over Frankfort.
