Performance of the Week: Detroit Country Day's Hadley Keating

June 16, 2023

Hadley KeatingHadley Keating ♦ Detroit Country Day
Junior ♦ Lacrosse

Keating – Country Day’s leading scorer this season with 96 goals – connected on perhaps the most memorable of her high school career during the final minute of her team’s season. She found the net with nine seconds to play in Saturday’s Division 2 Final to carry the Yellowjackets past East Grand Rapids 13-12 – clinching Country Day’s first MHSAA championship in girls lacrosse.

Those 96 goals tied for 18th-most for a single season in MHSAA history, and she’s climbing the career list as well with a chance to finish among the top 10 all-time; she also led Country Day in scoring in 2022 when the team finished Division 2 runner-up. She’s the latest star from an accomplished sports family – her father Blase played tennis collegiately and professionally, her oldest sister Annie was a two-time Finals doubles champion for Bloomfield Hills Academy of the Sacred Heart, and middle sister Kelleigh also was a high school tennis champion and played lacrosse at Stanford. Hadley has committed to sign with Notre Dame’s women’s lacrosse program and is considering majoring in economics with a minor in data science or computer science as she considers a career in investment banking.

The 6-0 outside hitter had 31 kills – tied for sixth-most in an MHSAA Final – with a .419 hitting percentage and 18 digs as Everest Collegiate came back from a two-set deficit to defeat No. 4-ranked Leland in five in Saturday’s Division 4 championship match at Kellogg Arena. The first Finals title in program history capped a tournament run that saw the Mountaineers also win their first Regional title. Everest entered the postseason ranked No. 10 in Division 4 and finished 32-4-2.

Bradley finished the season with 420 kills, adding 15 in a Quarterfinal win over No. 6 Marlette and 25 in a five-set Semifinal victory over top-ranked Adrian Lenawee Christian during which Everest also came back after losing the first two sets. Bradley was named to the Division 4 all-state first team after earning an honorable mention as a sophomore. She also plays basketball, softball and soccer for the Mountaineers and is interested in pursuing a career in the medical field as she begins contemplating her college possibilities.
