Perspective: Three Jobs

In this week's edition of MHSAA Perspective, John Johnson talks about a recent Sports Illustrated column where the writer – a hockey parent – reminds everyone that there are three jobs to be performed during a game, and that each party should focus on their own job.
Now in its 10th season, the radio commentary MHSAA Perspective – presented by the Michigan Army National Guard – airs on over 80 radio stations and audio outlets across the state, generally during the local broadcasts of high school games. The program runs for 30 weeks through the end of the winter sports season.

This week's edition celebrates national recognition recently awarded to Kent City coach Jill Evers, awards Game Balls to standouts in basketball and wrestling, explains a basketball rule that actually isn't, and announces winter sports "Officials Appreciation Week."
The 5-minute program each week includes feature stories from MHSAA.com or network affiliates, along with "Be the Referee," a 60-second look at the fine art of officiating.
"This Week in High School Sports" is powered by MI Student Aid, a part of the Office of Postsecondary Financial Planning located within the Michigan Department of Treasury.
