Highlight Reel: D1 Hockey Semifinals

Detroit Catholic Central and Grandville will meet Saturday to the decide this season's MHSAA Division 1 hockey champion.
Below are highlights from the NFHS Network for all four teams that played in Friday's Semifinals at Compuware Arena.
Detroit Catholic Central 4, Detroit U-D Jesuit 3
U-D GOES ON TOP – Detroit U-D Jesuit takes a 2-1 lead against Detroit Catholic Central in the first period of this Division 1 Semifinal, with both goals coming from Christian Wirth-Karbler. Here's the second goal.
CC SCRAMBLE – Detroit Catholic Central scored two second period goals 36 seconds apart to take the lead to stay. Brian Kearns gets the goal in this scramble in front of the Detroit U-D Jesuit net.

Grandville 3, Bay City 2
FOLLOW THE BOUNCING PUCK – After a scoreless first period, Conner Fischer opened the scoring for Grandville with a shot that bounced off at least a couple of players en route to the net.
WOLVES MAKE IT CLOSE – Bay City pulled to within a goal at 3-2 in the third period when Hunter David scored for the second time.

Moment: Pendery Caps GRCC Comeback

When Jack Pendery scored 5 minutes and 25 seconds into overtime on March 11, 2016, he finished Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s comeback from a two-goal deficit and sent the Eagles to the Division 3 hockey championship game with a 3-2 win over Chelsea.
The Bulldogs quickly took a 2-0 first-period lead in this Semifinal. But the Cougars scored once in the second period and again in the third to tie the score, and for the game outshot Chelsea 53-24.
“All I heard was a bunch of screaming and roaring,” Pendery said postgame of his winning goal. “I didn’t honestly didn’t see the goal clearly go in, but at that moment I felt relief off my chest.”
