Road Construction To Affect Traffic
In East Lansing
At MHSAA Boys Basketball Semifinals & Finals
EAST LANSING, Mich. - March 17 - The Michigan
Department of Transportation plans lane and ramp closures along
U.S. 127 in East Lansing from mid-March to October in 1999, which
may cause delays for spectators attending the 1999 MHSAA Boys
Basketball Semifinals and Finals at the Breslin Student Events
Center, March 25-27.
U.S. 127 will be reduced to one line in both directions from
Trowbridge Road to Saginaw Street, affecting the most popular
freeway exits used by spectators attending the games.
Here are some suggested alternate routes:
For fans coming to the finals from the South on U.S. 127:
The Trowbridge Road Ramp is open, but delays may occur. A
suggested alternate route would be to exit at Jolly Road, turn
East (left) at the stop sign, going to Collins Road; turn North
(left) on Collins, and follow to Harrison Road (next to Forest
Akers Golf Course), turning North (left) and taking Harrison
to the Breslin Center.
For fans coming from the East on I-96:
Exit at Okemos Road (Exit 110) and
proceed North (left) to Mt. Hope Avenue, turning West (left)
to Harrison Road, and heading North (right) to the Breslin Center.
For fans coming from the West on I-96: Do not take the U.S. 127/I-69 exit on Lansing's Northwest
side. Proceed to the I-496 East exit (Exit 95), and follow I-496
through Lansing to the Trowbridge Road Exit. The northbound ramp
to U.S. 127/Kalamazoo Street off I-496 is scheduled to be closed.
For fans coming from the Southwest on I-69:
Take I-96 West at Lansing to I-496
East (Exit 95) and take I-496 East to the Trowbridge Road Exit.
For fans coming from the Northeast on I-69: Take the Business
Loop I-69 exit to East Lansing (Exit 94), and follow Buisness
Loop I-69 to Hagadorn Road. Turn South (left) on Hagadorn, and
follow to Shaw Lane on campus, turning West (right). Follow Shaw
Lane to the Breslin Center.
There are no good alternate routes for fans coming from the North
on U.S. 27. All spectators should allow for additional driving
time coming to the games.
