FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Jan. 20, 2009 Basketball Tournament Scores Available on Phone & E-Mail EAST LANSING, Mich. –Jan. 20 – When the 2009 Michigan High School Athletic Association Girls and Boys Basketball Tournament begin in March, tournament results will be available through a free service which will put scores and schedules on your cell phone or in your e-mail inbox. MHSAA Championships Cell Scores will deliver information about as few or as many schools that a subscriber wishes to receive as soon as the tournament manager at a venue inputs the score to the Association’s website following a contest. Subscribers can also choose to have an alert sent to them the day of an event to remind them when their favorite team is scheduled to play. The information can be sent via a text message to a subscriber’s cell phone – standard text messaging rates apply – via e-mail, or through both mediums. To sign up for MHSAA Championships Cell Scores, visit the home page of the MHSAA Website and click on the Cell Scores banner ad. The MHSAA is a private, not-for-profit corporation of voluntary membership by over 1,600 public and private senior high schools and junior high/middle schools which exists to develop common rules for athletic eligibility and competition. No government funds or tax dollars support the MHSAA, which was the first such association nationally to not accept membership dues or tournament entry fees from schools.
