MHSAA Network Debuts Highlights Shows For Fall Championships;
L.P. Girls Swimming & Diving Finals To Be Shown Later This Month

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Dec. 11 – Highlights programs wrapping up Michigan High School Athletic Association championships from this past fall in cross country, golf and tennis will be available for cable and Internet viewing this month via the MHSAA Network.

Shows recapping the Lower Peninsula Girls Golf Finals and the Upper Peninsula Girls Tennis Finals from October are already available for online viewing at MHSAA.tv. Those programs will soon be joined by highlights of Finals in cross country from both peninsulas and Lower Peninsula Boys Tennis.

Comcast Cable 900 will debut the tennis action on Thursday (Dec. 11), showing the Upper Peninsula Girls Finals at 9:30 p.m., followed by the Lower Peninsula Boys Finals at 10 p.m. On Sunday (Dec. 14), the cross country programs will have their airing, with the Upper Peninsula Final at 9:30 p.m., followed by the Lower Peninsula Girls Finals at 10 p.m. and the Lower Peninsula Boys Finals at 10:30 p.m.

The Girls Lower Peninsula Girls Swimming & Diving Finals received their first ever statewide full meet coverage this year. Those programs will first be shown on Dec. 27, with the Division 2 meet at Holland airing at 10 a.m., followed by the Division 1 finals at Ypsilanti at 12:30 p.m. and the Division 3 championships at Rochester at 7 p.m. On Dec. 28, the Division 3 show will air at 10 a.m.; the Division 2 program will be at 6:30 p.m.; and at 9 p.m., Division 1 will be shown again. These three programs will also be available soon on the Internet at MHSAA.tv.

The MHSAA Network provides video coverage of regular-season and post-season tournament events to be distributed on multiple platforms. MHSAA.TV is the portal site for video content, and the launching pad to MHSAA Radio. During the Fall of 2008, the MHSAA Network produced nearly 400 hours of original programming, covering over 140 contests, including MHSAA Final events in all sports except football.

The MHSAA is a private, not-for-profit corporation of voluntary membership by over 1,600 public and private senior high schools and junior high/middle schools which exists to develop common rules for athletic eligibility and competition. No government funds or tax dollars support the MHSAA, which was the first such association nationally to not accept membership dues or tournament entry fees from schools. Member schools which enforce these rules are permitted to participate in MHSAA tournaments, which attract approximately 1.6 million spectators each year.
