Prime Time Encore Presentation Of “The Longest Game” Wednesday;
East Grand Rapids-Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Five-OT Clash On FSN Detroit

EAST LANSING, Mich.  – Nov. 26 – The longest high school football playoff game in Michigan High School Athletic Association history – a five overtime contest between East Grand Rapids and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s for the Division 3 championship – will air again statewide at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on FSN Detroit.

The 46-39 victory for East Grand Rapids eclipsed marks for several two overtime games in the Finals of the tournament, as well as a handful of games at all levels that went four extra periods.  The game had ended regulation play in a 14-14 deadlock.  The winning points for the Pioneers came in the fifth OT on Joe Glendening’s three-yard run, which was followed by Michael Wilson’s point-after kick.  The Eaglets’ last play on the ensuing possession saw a fourth-down pass from Robert Bolden to Tayler Peruski fall incomplete.

Glendening’s four touchdown runs in the game tied a Final record for six-pointers, and his 24 points also tied for the top spot in that category.  It was the second four-TD performance of the Finals, the other by Macomb Dakota’s Kyle Demaster, who also tied a Finals record with three pass receptions for scores.

Wednesday’s telecast will be edited down to three hours from its original length of three hours and 25 minutes, eliminating the halftime portion of the show and some timeouts.

Additional playback times for the Division 3 game, as well as the other seven championship games, will be announced soon by FSN Detroit.

FSN Detroit's coverage of the MHSAA goes to more than 3.2 million cable and satellite households throughout Michigan and portions of Northwest Ohio and Northern Indiana.  The regional network is home to more than 250 live local events per year among the MHSAA, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Shock and the Central College Hockey Association.  FSN is the nation’s leading provider of local sports.  Through its affiliates and other Fox Network Group-owned networks, FSN reaches more than 82 million homes through 25 regional networks.

The MHSAA is a private, not-for-profit corporation of voluntary membership by over 1,600 public and private senior high schools and junior high/middle schools which exists to develop common rules for athletic eligibility and competition. No government funds or tax dollars support the MHSAA, which was the first such association nationally to not accept membership dues or tournament entry fees from schools. Member schools which enforce these rules are permitted to participate in MHSAA tournaments, which attract approximately 1.6 million spectators each year.
