Pistons’ Playoff Game Forces Rescheduling Of Competitive Cheer Telecasts

EAST LANSING, Mich.  – April 19 –  The initial airings of the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Division 1 and 2 Girls Competitive Cheer Finals Saturday evening (April 21) on FSN Detroit have been rescheduled because of a conflict with Game One of the National Basketball Association first round playoff series between the Detroit Pistons and the Orlando Magic.

The Division 1 and 2 telecasts will take place one week later, on April 28, with the Division 1 program airing at 7 p.m. (EDT); followed by the Division 2 telecast at 8 p.m.  The Cheer Finals will be preceded that evening at 6:30 with a broadcast of the winter edition of MHSAA Magazine, which will review all of the Association’s recent post-season tournament action.

The Division 3 and 4 Girls Competitive Cheer Finals will still air on FSN Detroit on their original schedule on Sunday (April 22), with the Division 3 program at 1 p.m.; followed by Division 4 at 2 p.m.
All of the Girls Competitive Cheer Finals will be rebroadcast at later dates.  Consult your local listings.

The MHSAA is a private, not-for-profit corporation of voluntary membership by over 1,800 public and private senior high schools and junior high/middle schools which exists to develop common rules for athletic eligibility and competition.  No government funds or tax dollars support the MHSAA, which was the first such association nationally to not accept membership dues or tournament entry fees from schools.  Member schools which enforce these rules are permitted to participate in MHSAA tournaments, which attract approximately 1.6 million spectators each year.
