2003-04 Parade of Champions EAST LANSING, Mich. – July 1 – A total of 82 different schools were crowned champions, including five for the first time, in Michigan High School Athletic Association tournaments during the 2003-04 school year. The past year saw a total of 117 team champions in 116 classes or divisions (there was one tie in boys soccer), in a year where the number of postseason tournaments offered by the Association grew with the addition of bowling for girls and boys. Marquette won eight total titles; while Country Day won four championships. Sixteen of the MHSAA's 26 championship tournaments are unified, involving teams from the Upper and Lower Peninsulas , while separate competition to determine titlists in both Peninsulas is conducted in the other 10 sports. Five schools ran their consecutive championship streak to four or more in a given sport including: Marysville in volleyball (8); Iron Mountain in boys tennis (8); and Marquette in girls skiing (6), girls cross country (4), boys cross country (4) and boys tennis (4).
