Lacrosse Officials Clinic To Take Place In East Lansing On February 28

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Feb. 16 In an effort to recruit and train lacrosse officials for its first season in 2005, the Michigan High School Athletic Association will conduct a clinic on February 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the MHSAA Office in East Lansing .

The cost of the clinic is $20, and for their participation in the clinic, the MHSAA will waive the official's registration fee for the 2004-05 school year for any new or current officials who take part.

An application form can be found on the home page of the MHSAA Web site (www.mhsaa.com). Applications should be submitted to the MHSAA by Monday (Feb. 23).

All clinics are approved by the Michigan Lacrosse Officials Association and the Michigan Women's Lacrosse Officials Association.

The MHSAA is a private, not-for-profit corporation of voluntary membership by over 1,200 public and private senior high schools and junior high/middle schools which exists to develop common rules for athletic eligibility and competition. No government funds or tax dollars support the MHSAA, which was the first such association nationally to not accept membership dues or tournament entry fees from schools. Member schools which enforce these rules are permitted to participate in MHSAA tournaments, which attract approximately 1.6 million spectators each year.
