Beginning this week, and on every Tuesday prior to the final game of the regular season, the Michigan High School Athletic Association will release a list of those teams in contention for the MHSAA Football Playoffs and a list of all football playing schools, listed in enrollment order, and their playoff point averages. These lists will only be available on the MHSAA Web Site.

Here is a small sample of how the weekly listings will read:

For the first five weeks of these releases all teams with three or more victories will be included on the shorter list, and after week eight, only teams with four or more victories will be listed. The first release next week will probably only include about 230 teams with at least three victories. It is expected that over 400 schools will be listed after Week 8. As the list grows, it will become clearer where teams may fall in the enrollment spectrum when broken into divisions on Selection Sunday, Oct. 26. The list of all football playing schools is also being released weekly so that their records and playoff averages may be cross checked.

As in past years, schools and media should review the list carefully, and report possible errors to the MHSAA office.
