2003 Women In Sports
Leadership Conference
Registration Forms Now Available On MHSAA Web Site
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Dec. 13 - Registration forms for the
15th annual Women In Sports Leadership Conference, sponsored
by the Michigan High School Athletic Association, February 2-3
in Lansing, are now available on the MHSAA Web Site at mhsaa.com
The first, largest and longest-running conference of its type
in the country, registration is limited to the first 500 applicants.
The Women In Sports Leadership Conference is designed for anyone
who is interested in becoming a high school coach, administrator
or official. The conference annually fills quickly, with many
of the attendees being student-athletes. Adult registration
is $50, and student registration is $25.
Forms will soon be mailed to MHSAA member schools. Hotel registration
information is also available, as is information about the annual
Program of Athletic Coaches Education conducted the day before
the conference. The third annual TWO-DAE (Trained Women Officials-Dedicated,
Accomplished, Educated) Clinic for officials, will also be conducted
the day before the conference, with information to soon be available
on the MHSAA Web site.
The MHSAA is a private, not-for-profit corporation of voluntary
membership by over 1,300 public and private senior high schools
and junior high/middle schools which exists to develop common
rules for athletic eligibility and competition. No government
funds or tax dollars support the MHSAA, which was the first such
association nationally to not accept membership dues or tournament
entry fees from schools. Member schools which enforce these
rules are permitted to participate in MHSAA tournaments, which
attract approximately 1.6 million spectators each year.
