EAST LANSING, Mich. - Dec. 11 - Registration forms for the
14th annual Women In Sports Leadership Conference, sponsored
by the Michigan High School Athletic Association, February 3-4
in Lansing, are now available on the MHSAA Web Site (mhsaa.com).
The first, largest and longest-running conference of its type
in the country, registration is limited to the first 500 applicants.
The Women In Sports Leadership Conference is designed for anyone
who is interested in becoming a high school coach, administrator
or official. The conference annually fills quickly, with many
of the attendees being student-athletes. Adult registration is
$50, and student registration is $25.
Information about the annual Program of Athletic Coaches Education
and the TWO-DAE (Trained Women Officials-Dedicated, Accomplished,
Educated) Clinic for officials, conducted the day before the
conference, is also available on the registration form. Hotel
registration information is also available. Forms will soon be
mailed to MHSAA member schools.
The MHSAA is a private, not-for-profit corporation of voluntary
membership by over 1,300 public and private senior high schools
and junior high/middle schools which exists to develop common
rules for athletic eligibility and competition. No government
funds or tax dollars support the MHSAA, which was the first such
association nationally to not accept membership dues or tournament
entry fees from schools. Member schools which enforce these rules
are permitted to participate in MHSAA tournaments, which attract
approximately 1.6 million spectators each year.
