MHSAA Statement Regarding House Bill 4293

The bill contradicts the express wishes of…

  • Students - Less than 30 percent of female student-athletes think girls sports seasons should coincide with boys seasons. (Western Michigan University survey, 1999)

  • Coaches - Less than 8 percent of basketball coaches want the girls and boys seasons to coincide. (Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan survey, 2001)

  • Schools - Less than 18 percent of schools want boys and girls seasons to coincide. (Superintendents, Principals & Athletic Directors survey by MHSAA, 1998)
